5 years old, White and Tan, Shih Tzu mix, Cubby is one happy dog with a tail that wags constantly and a great big smile on his face. He's a charmer and it won't be long before he is home charming his new family with his winning ways. Cubby entered the shelter system as a stray but it certainly doesn't appear that he wanted for affection or food. He weighs close to 18 pounds and is, shall we say, well rounded, so part of his new routine should include walks and a lower calorie diet. He is about 5 years old, neutered, micro chipped and current on his vaccines. Count on Cubby to entertain you with his joyous personality while your favored possessions will continue to be safe. His puppy high jinks are behind him and what remains is a wonderful dog.
8 months Tri-color Dachshund/Chihuahua mix. In his short life, eight-month-old Josh has already had two homes. Now, the young fellow is hanging out with our other perfect pets while we all search for his third -- and final -- home.......his furever home. As is common with any youngster who has been bounced around from home to home, Josh is initially wary of strangers. After all, meeting new people has only left him with a broken heart thus far. This is all about to change for Josh, though, because we just know his forever family is out there somewhere searching for him. When they find him, they will be ever so glad they did!! For when he feels safe, Josh willingly accepts others' love and happily gives the puppy love that fills his heart. Josh is a spirited and bright young pup who needs both the security that routine and structure bring and the joy that comes with rolling in the grass, chasing squirrels, playing with toys, walking with his family, and cuddling after a busy day. At 13.5 pounds, Josh is neutered, microchipped, and current on all vaccines. Best of all? This handsome young fellow is small enough to go with you anywhere and everywhere!!
2 to 3 White and tan Cockapoo. As little Manchester lay motionless in their neighbor's front yard, a lovely couple knew they had to act to save his life. As they scooped him up and headed home, they discovered the ugly truth. The little fellow had obviously been neglected for a very, very long time and was covered in a thick cast of hair. When the couple brought Manchester to us the following evening, we knew we had to act fast to free him from the severe matting and set him up to be groomed the next morning. Our groomer said he had not seen matting so severe in a very long time and set to work. For hours, he cut away at the sheath of hair...until finally an adorable little boy appeared. Unfortunately, however, the remaining matting was so tight and so close to his skin that Manchester would have to be anesthetized to have the 'casts' still binding his legs, paws, and tail removed. Further examination revealed Manchester's tail was actually broken in multiple places, causing him severe pain. So our little boy was rushed to surgery to have his tail amputated and the leg 'casts' removed. A loving touch is still a bit foreign to Manchester, but he is beginning to like the gentle caresses he was unable to feel for so long. In Manchester's soulful eyes, one sees his resilience and his growing trust that absolutely no one will ever again neglect or hurt him. Manchester weighs 14 pounds and will be neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated.
5-6 years old, White, Poodle / Bichon mix, If you want to become a champion than you have to fight hard to get to the top. Rafael Nadal is currently the number 1 ranked tennis player in the world and our dog Rafa aspires to similar heights. Rafa had tried so hard to be a good dog and his family just didn't appreciate him. He looked like he had never had a bath or haircut in his life. Now he has a chance to win a grand slam title and the praise and love found in a new home. He's ready for it and deserves it because he's fabulous. Rafa weighs 17 pounds, is neutered, micro chipped and current on his vaccines. There is no doubt about it, he's a champ, be it hard court, grass or clay, he's ready to play. Just give him a tennis ball and let him show you his stuff.
4-5 years old, Black and White, Tiny Terrier mix, Every one needs a little Flair, some special style in their life and this dog delivers the whole package. She's a charmer, with her expressive ears that pop up high above her head to her soft white chest, a bright contrast to her black coat. Her fur is silky and should grow in fuller to add to her fluffy appearance. She may not be a puppy but she's an active and playful little girl. She is spayed, micro chipped and current on her vaccines. We all need some Flair in our lives and this 10 pound girl might just be the right style for you.
2 years old, White and Tan, Major Mutt, You've got to have Hart. This little boy weighs less than 7 pounds and his coat is soft and silky. It's easy to put him into your arms and forget that you are carrying him about. He's about 2 years old and although he's about overwhelmed by the circumstances that recently were his, he is so eager to love and trust that he literally melts into your arms. We heard from a good source that little Hart was found starving in a sewer. He was so weak that he had to be hand fed. Luckily he has gained some weight, of course he had a very good bath and Hart is ready to forget that sad chapter in his life. The book can be written and let it start with his rescue to a loving home. There he will become a special being, cherished, loved and let's not forget, well fed. He is neutered, micro chipped and current on his vaccines. Hart will steal your heart and it will be treat to lose it to him. End of story.
4-5 years old, White, West Highland Terrier/White Cairn Terrier mix. When you look into Oakley's soulful eyes, you will find yourself wishing he could tell you the story of his life. A Westie/Maltese/Cairn Terrier/Whatever-You-Want-Him-To-Be mix, Oakley wants only to love and be loved. He is so gentle and kind that one has to wonder how this sweet boy ever found himself in one of Los Angeles County's highest kill shelters, but find himself there he did....., and there he stayed for some time. Feeling frightened and alone, Oakley hung back, not daring to approach the many strangers who passed by his kennel door even as he secretly hoped one of them would take him home. Then one day, after what felt to him like an eternity, a wonderful shelter volunteer not only noticed him, but asked us to find him the forever home he deserves. Thus, Oakley came to Perfect Pet Rescue. As his confidence has grown and his faith in people has been restored, he has shown us just how perfect a pet he is; and we, with the help of his very special foster mom, have shown him that the world is not such a scary, lonely place after all. Still a bit shy when first meeting new people, Oakley is actually quite a happy boy. His tail wags nonstop; and he absolutely loves to give kisses, especially when snuggling with humans. At 13 pounds, Oakley is neutered, microchipped, current on all vaccines, house-trained, and good with other dogs. Sporting a new doggie do, Oakley, who is the sweetest foster his foster mom says she has ever had, is now not-so-secretly hoping you will take him home!
9 to 10 years old, White, Terrier mix. Holly was adopted a few years ago to a wonderful woman whose health now makes it impossible for her to care for Holly. So this beautiful senior finds herself back with Perfect Pet Rescue. She is a truly sweet and friendly lady, who deserves to have all her dreams come true. She will fit into any family situation. In fact, she is practically perfect in every way! She adores children; has had basic obedience training; and is potty-trained. She likes other dogs but would much prefer being your one and only. At 22 pounds, she still thinks she's lap dog. Holly is a young ten who loves walks and playing and just hanging out. She is microchipped, spayed, and current on all vaccines.
